Princeton’s Yankee Tap Room – the perfect place to unwind!

by ~ShiningSoulYoga~

Next time you are in Princeton, NJ looking for a nice little place to unwind after work, shopping, yoga-ing, whatever… stop by the Yankee Tap Room. Located right in Palmer Square in the quaint Nassau Inn, the bar and restaurant feature a huge rustic fireplace for the colder months, and outdoor seating for warm summer nights, making it a great spot all year round.

The cozy atmosphere inside makes it perfect for everything from reading a book and relaxing with a cup of tea to downing some of their fabulous martinis at the bar, which happens to house the largest Norman Rockwell mural commissioned by Edgar Palmer. 13 feet wide, the beautiful painting hangs behind the bar, serving as a unique backdrop! Their menu has a great selection, ranging from standard pub fare like wings and burgers to innovative salads like their Apple Orchard Salad and a variety of seafood and steak entrees.

Other notable things about the Yankee Tap Room include their extensive, ever-changing beer list, friendly service, and plenty of TVs in case there is a game on that you don’t want to miss. Inscribed in the wood above the fireplace is the quote: “Rest Traveller, Rest, and Banish Thoughts of Care; Drink to Thy Friends and Recommend Them Here.” One wall is covered with portraits of notable Princeton alumni, ranging from Brook Shields to Michelle Obama. It is always entertaining to see their school portraits, taken so many years ago!

The Tap Room is one of our go-to favorites in Princeton, hands down. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is great, so next time you are in the area, make sure to check it out!
