Tasty Tilapia Tacos

by ~ShiningSoulYoga~

I love fish tacos. They are a healthy and fun alternative to cheesy, beefy tacos and just as satisfying. We started making them at home recently, experimenting with salmon, shrimp and everything in between. This is a recipe we made last week that takes less than 10 minutes to put together, and is light and tasty – something that everyone will enjoy.

Ingredients (serves 3)

4 Tilapia filets

1 large bunch of cilantro

1 jalapeno

4 green onions

1 tomato, chopped

1 head of romaine, chopped

1 package of soft whole wheat tortillas

1 lime

1 lemon

1 teaspoon of ground chipolte pepper

1 teaspoon of ground chili

1 teaspoon of oregano

1/2 a teaspoon of paprika

1 teaspoon of cumin

cheese is optional

avocado/guacamole is optional

Mix spices together and cover both sides of the tilapia. Add some lemon juice, and pan sear until the fish is cooked through – approximately 6 minutes, depending on the size of the fish. You will know it is done when the fish flakes apart easily. While that is cooking, chop up the jalapeno, lettuce, green onionĀ and tomato and place into individual bowls. Cut the lime into wedges. Once the fish is cooked, flake the fish apart into bite-size pieces and transfer to a serving bowl. Put the fish, tortillas, tomatos, lettuce, jalapenos, green onionsĀ and limes in the center of the table and let people make their own tacos! Simple, fun and tasty! enjoy.
